Holden Colorado Z71 : Lion brand’s Ranger Wildtrak fighter spotted in production trim

An undisguised Holden Colorado Z71 , believed to be the Lion brand's answer to the Ford Ranger Wildtrak, was spotted in Melbourne overnight.

The top spec 4x4 Colorado features a new-look nudge bar, roof rails and integrated sports bar on the ute bed, as well as decals on the bonnet and doors to help differentiate the Z71 from the rest of the range.

Chevrolet has long used the Z71 badge to identify a more rugged 4x4 model of the Silverado and Colorado pick ups in North America, but it is not known if the Holden Colorado Z71 will feature any mechanical or driveline changes.

It's shaping up to be a big year for the 4x4 dual-cab ute category, with the recently revealed Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara and Mitsubishi Triton and forthcoming Toyota HiLux all due to land in Australia by year's end.

As we know, demand for high-spec utes is driving much of the segment's growth.

CarAdvice expects to see the Z71 in market around mid-year, and will continue to follow development of this model.
