2015 Citroen DS3 range gets autonomous brakes

The updated and restyled 2015 Citroen DS3 will come with a range of updated safety technology including low-speed autonomous brakes when it launches in the middle of April.

The 120kW French premium warm hatch and cabriolet range, an oft-overlooked player in the market, will become the first car from the PSA (Peugeot/Citroen) Group to offer Active City Brake technology.

Active at speeds under 31km/h, the automated braking system helps avoid low-speed city collisions via a short-range laser sensor mounted behind the rear-vision mirror mount.

This 10m Lidar unit detects vehicles in front of the car and, if that vehicle is sensed to have slowed or stopped too quickly, Active City Brake automatically applies the brakes.

DS3 and DS3 Cabrio models now also have a rear-view camera — on a seven-inch screen with sat-nav — and parking sensors as standard.

The revised DS3 range launches in mid-April. We’re attending the media launch around that time and will bring you a review at that time. Full pricing and specifications will be available around that time.
