Jeremy Clarkson to be sacked, Top Gear to remain – report
The UK's The Daily Telegraph newspaper is reporting that the controversy-plagued Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson will be sacked by the BBC this week, but the British motoring series will remain on television after he finishes up.
Clarkson is reportedly set to be stood down after an internal investigation found the host assaulted the show's producer, Oisin Tymon.
Losing one of television's most well-known faces will undoubtedly affect the fandom of the show, but the BBC is apparently determined that it must go on without Clarkson. However, further reports suggest May and Hammond may not return, either, as a show of solidarity.
Well-known British radio identity, Chris Evans, is said to be first in line to take Clarkson's place. Evans is renowned as a motoring enthusiast, and he has an extensive collection of high-end cars (including a Ferrari 250 GTO that he bought in 2010 for £12 million).
Evans currently anchors the Radio 2 Breakfast Show.
