New Fiat sedan spied, likely heading to developed world markets

Our spy photographers have captured an under-development Fiat sedan during cold weather testing in Sweden.

The vehicle pictured here will be one of a three-strong family of vehicles that will come in sedan, hatch and wagon forms. In essence, these cars will be the spiritual replacements for the Punto and Linea model ranges.

Given past history, the current-generation Punto hatch and Linea sedan, which are still on sale in markets like Brazil and India, will continue to be produced and sold in developing world markets.

The sedan pictured here, and its unseen siblings, are said to be based on the same architecture that underpins the Fiat 500L, 500X and the Jeep Renegade.

Production of the new sedan will commence at Fiat's joint venture facility in Turkey from 2016. The sedan will be exported to many locations, including the hotly contested European market.

There's rumours that this car could end up in the US; if that does eventuate, it will likely wear a Dodge badge.

It's unknown at this stage whether this Fiat sedan or any of its siblings will be coming to Australia.
