A suite of 2015 Ford Everest grade specifications and engine details have leaked ahead of the car's reveal at the Bangkok motor show this month and launch later this year.
According to prominent Thai Facebook fan page, MZ Crazy Cars, the Ford Everest will be launched in three variants with two engines, as originally expected.
The entire range will feature seven seats and independent front suspension with coil springs and a stabiliser bar, while the rear will come with coil springs and Watts linkage. Five colours will be available at launch — White Cool White, Black Mica Metallic, Silver Aluminium Metallic, Golden Brown, Sparkling Gold Metallic and Red Sunset Metallic.
Kicking off the range will be the rear-wheel drive Everest Titanium 4 x 2 that is powered by Ford's 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift.
Producing 120kW of power and 385Nm of torque, power is up 10kW and torque has also increased by 10Nm in comparison to the same engine currently fitted to the PX Ford Ranger. This power and torque increase suggests the same engine could carry over to the updated Ford Ranger, which is due to go on sale in Australia later in the year.
The Everest Titanium 4 x 2 will come standard with the following exterior features:
- adjustable power mirrors,
- alarm and immobiliser,
- projector headlamps,
- front and rear fog lights,
- roof-rack ready roof rails, and
- 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60 tyres.
Inside the cabin, the Everest Titanium 4 x 2 will come with the following standard features:
- automatic headlights,
- automatic windscreen wipers,
- auto-dimming rear-vision mirror,
- cruise control,
- dual-zone climate control,
- rear air vents,
- electrically adjustable driver's seat,
- Bluetooth connectivity with USB input,
- three 12V power outlets,
- ISOFIX child seat anchorage points, and
- reverse parking sensors.
The next model in the range is expected to be the Everest Titanium 4 x 4, which steps up the engine offering with Ford's 3.2-litre, five-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift.
Unlike the 2.2-litre, the 3.2-litre produces the same amount of power as it does currently, with 147kW of power and 470Nm of torque available on tap.
The four-wheel drive drivetrain gets Ford's new Terrain Management feature that allows the driver to select from a set of pre-determined four-wheel drive modes. Additionally, the four-wheel drive system also comes with a rear locking differential.
The interior and exterior features remain identical to the Everest Titanium 4 x 2.
The top-end of the Everest range is called the Everest Titanium + 4 x 4. It gets the same drivetrain as the Everest Titanium 4 x 4, but receives a raft of added features. These include:
- LED daytime running lights,
- Colour touch-screen Sync 2 infotainment system,
- HID bi-xenon headlights,
- panoramic electric sunroof,
- 20-inch alloy wheels,
- electrically adjustable front passenger seat,
- electrically adjustable third row seating,
- semi-automatic parking,
- driver knee airbag,
- front and rear parking sensors,
- lane keeping assistant,
- heated front row seating,
- blind spot monitoring and alert system, and
- reverse-view camera.
While these specifications may be changed for the Australian market, it's pleasing to see the Everest range will be jam packed full of new technology and modern features.
