A promotional image from General Motors has been leaked and published online, and it gives us our best view yet of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro and Chevrolet Malibu.
The leaked image, which promotes all of the new passenger car models that Chevy will debut this year in the US, comes hot on the heels of official info from GM about the next-gen Malibu and Barina Spark.
Last week, the US maker confirmed the new Malibu would debut at the New York motor show at the beginning of April. The next-gen sedan, which takes centre stage in the promo shot, sits on a new platform, will feature a 10cm longer wheelbase, around 135kg less weight to carry around and styling that GM’s design chief describes as “gorgeous”.
To the immediate right and behind the Malibu is the new Camaro coupe, which our spies have previously photographed in heavily camouflaged form.
Sharing its underpinnings with the Cadillac ATS and CTS, the new Camaro is expected to ship with four-, six- and eight-cylinder motivation. The new rear-wheel-drive coupe is also likely to form the basis of a new Holden-badged V8 model, which will be the lion brand’s halo performance vehicle after Australian manufacturing ceases in 2017.
At the back of the promo image is the Chevrolet Volt (left) and the next-generation Chevy Spark (right), while the US-spec version of the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze makes an appearance on the left.
The Spark, like the Malibu, will be unveiled at the New York show. We’ve already published GM’s official teaser image of the new Spark, as well as undisguised photos of the car on a South Korean dock.
A Holden version, which will again be badged as the Barina Spark, will go on sale locally from 2016.
