Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo: tough-looking digital concept joins virtual racing world

Meet the tough and funky Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo – the latest digital concept car ready to be let loose on Sony PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 6.

Joining the likes of BMW, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Infiniti and Volkswagen in having a playable Vision Gran Turismo concept car on the Polyphony Digital-developed video game, the Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo has been created by the 'Mini Design Team' to represent "the essence of a Mini".

Said to be inspired by the brand's motor racing history, the 1050-kilogram virtual concept car teams a 290kW engine with a paddle-shifted six-speed sequential transmission and permanent all-wheel-drive to claim a 3.5-second 0-100km/h time and a top speed of 290km/h.

The tiny but mighty Mini has fully adjustable McPherson dampers up front and HA3 dampers at the rear. It also features aggressive aero and ducting, a large central air intake, flared wheel arches, a flat carbonfibre underbody, ‘X’-marked LED headlights and 22-inch ‘bicolour’ rims.

Racing stripes on the bonnet, roof and rear are also included, as are John Cooper Works (JCW) badging and an upright windscreen wiper.

According to Mini’s head of exterior design Christopher Weil: “A Mini like this has never been seen before”.

"The Mini Clubman Vision Gran Turismo combines all the hallmark mini design features presented in the sportiest and most exciting style,” Weil said.

Created as part of the 15th anniversary celebrations for the GT franchise, the Vision Gran Turismo concepts are available for players to download in the form of online updates and race at one of 39 reproduced race tracks on the game.
