McLaren 675LT unveiled with 497kW 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8

The McLaren 675LT, which will sit atop the Super Series range, has been revealed and detailed ahead of its premiere at the 2015 Geneva motor show.

McLaren claims that it has changed more than 50 per cent of components in its twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8, which now produces 497kW of power and 700Nm of torque. That's up on the 478kW/678Nm produced by the engine used in the 650S.

The new range-topping Super Series car has a dry weight of 1230 kilograms — around 100kg less than the 650S. This allows the 675LT to complete the 0-100km/h sprint in a claimed 2.9 seconds, hit 200km/h in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 330km/h.

Compared to the 650S, the 675LT is 0.1sec faster to 100km/h and reaches 200km/h a half second sooner.

Part of the 675LT's weight loss is attributable to the extensive use of carbonfibre components, but a less weighty engine and the junking of some comfort features, such as air conditioning, also helps.

Only available in coupe form, the 675LT features a larger carbonfibre front splitter, circular twin exhausts at the rear, a larger door blade, and an additional cooling intake. There's also a larger, but lighter, carbonfibre Airbrake spoiler.

On the inside the 675LT features carbonfibre shell seats covered in Alcantara. For those who decide to option air conditioning back into their cars, the controls are now housed within the touchscreen infotainment system.
