Measuring 5.11 metres from head to tail, 1.97m wide, 1.4m tall, and sitting on a 3.04m long wheelbase, the Prologue Avant is a pretty big beast. Despite its generous dimensions, the concept car seats only four people.
The car rides on an adaptive suspension system tied to 22-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 285/30 tyres. Stopping power is provided by 20-inch carbon ceramic disc brakes.
Unlike last year's Prologue coupe, which is powered by a 445kW/700Nm 4.0-litre V8, the Prologue Avant is said to feature an all-wheel drive, all-wheel steer hybrid drivetrain.
Under the bonnet there's a 260kW 3.0-litre turbo-diesel motor hooked up to an eight-speed automatic transmission, within which lives a 100kW electric motor.
With a total of 335kW of power and 750Nm of torque at its disposal, the Prologue Avant has a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.1 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
Driven more leisurely, the Avant's 14.1kWh lithium-ion battery pack should be good for an electric-only driving range of 54 kilometres. Using the NEDC standard, the Avant is good for an overall fuel economy figure of 1.6L/100km.
The Prologue Avant's batteries can be recharged by a wireless inductive charging system, which consists of a floor plate connected to the power grid and a receptor on the underside of the car. Audi claims that the Avant is able to draw 3.6kW of power and a maximum 16 amps of current via this setup.
OLED (organic light emitting diodes) displays feature prominently throughout the Prologue Avant's cabin. There are two slim, detachable tablet-style OLED displays that allow passengers in the rear to access the car's entertainment system.
Up front, there are three touchscreen displays that the driver and front passenger can interact with to control various systems. Ahead of the gear lever is a curved OLED display that raises itself to a slight angle when the Avant is started up.
