2011 BMW M5 – twin-turbo V10 & KERS?

Said to be derived from the twin-turbocharged V8 currently used in the BMW’s X5 M and X6 M, the new V10 will deliver upwards of 450kW and even include cylinder deactivation to increase fuel efficiency.

In addition to the new twin-turbo V10, the use of KERS would recoup some of the energy lost during deceleration, storing that energy for an extra boost of power when needed.

The next M5 – along with the rest of the 5 Series range – is due mid-next year but will be sold as a 2011 model.
