2015 Skoda Octavia Scout specifications revealed

The 2015 Skoda Octavia Scout is now available to pre-order in Australia, with the Czech car maker announcing specifications (but not pricing) for its new-generation rough-and-ready wagon.

The new Octavia Scout boasts an expanded powertrain line-up that grows from a single diesel engine in the previous-generation model to two diesels and a petrol in the new range.

On offer is the 132kW/280Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine and two tunes of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel, rated at 110kW/320Nm and 135kW/380Nm.

The entry-level diesel is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while the petrol and high-power diesel are coupled with a six-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission.

The entry 110TDI variant is equipped with nine airbags, rear parking sensors and a reverse-view camera, fatigue detection, Passenger Protect Assist, chrome interior door handles, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, gearknob and handbrake lever.

An optional Premium Pack adds an 8.0-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation, alcantara/leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, automatic tailgate, 17-inch alloy wheels, and privacy glass.

The higher-spec 132TSI and 135TDI variants come standard with alcantara/leather upholstery, 8.0-inch touchscreen with sat-nav, dual-zone climate control and the auto tailgate.

All three variants are available with the optional Tech Pack, which includes adaptive cruise control, front assist and city emergency brake (available on 110TDI and 132TSI only), bi-xenon headlights, semi-automated parking, premium Canton sound system, keyless entry with push-button start, drive mode selector, and a camera-based lane assist system.

Skoda says local pricing will be announced on March 26 when Octavia Scout vehicles start arriving in showrooms.

The existing Octavia wagon range gives us an indication of how the Scout will be priced. The Scout 132TSI will cost a small premium over its regular wagon equivalent, which costs $36,490 before on-roads. The Scout 110TDI shouldn’t be too far from the $37,290 price of the regular 110TDI wagon, given it gains the Scout additions but misses out on the DSG. The Scout 135TDI may also be priced close to its equivalent, the Octavia RS 135TDI, which costs $41,440. The previous-generation Octavia Scout was priced between $39,990 and $46,290.

All 2015 Skoda Octavia Scout wagons are equipped with a new Haldex 5 all-wheel-drive system, 31mm of extra ride height over the regular Octavia wagon, black plastic body mouldings, front and rear metal scuff plates, and unique interior styling elements.
