Nissan Juke Nismo RSnow fitted with tracks to tackle Lapland

Some may cast aspersions as to the Juke's off-road ability, but the just unveiled Nissan Juke Nismo RSnow has been designed to tackle some of the harshest driving conditions that winter can dish up.

Car Advice spoke to Joshua Clifton, a spokesman for Nissan USA, who told us that the Juke Nismo RSnow was created as a support vehicle for an ice driving event that will be held in Lapland, Finland.

The Juke Nismo RSnow features modified front and rear fascias that won't be torn to shreds by the fitted Dominator Track System, which is supplied by American Track Truck. The only other significant change to the donor Juke Nismo RS is a reprogrammed control module for the torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system.

Under the bonnet, the Nissan Juke Nismo RSnow is powered by the same 160kW/280Nm turbocharged 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol engine as the regular Juke RS.

Foot to the floor, Nissan claims that the Juke Nismo RSnow can hit a maximum speed of 100km/h over the white stuff.

The conversion from rubber-tyred opinion polariser to snow conquering machine reportedly cost just 15,000 dollars — although it's not known if that figure refers to euros ($21,400) or US dollars ($18,800).

The car was initially scheduled to be revealed at a later date, but thanks to a forecast of record breaking snowfalls and blizzard conditions in north-eastern USA, the company's US arm decided to go early and post a few tweets of the Juke RSnow with the caption, "Winter: 0 / Juke Nismo RSnow: 1".
