2015 Audi A4 Allroad brings upgraded diesel

The Audi A4 Allroad has become the first model in Australia to gain the company's upgraded 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel that increases power but reduces fuel use.

Audi's small-capacity diesel now features outputs of 140kW (up 10kW) and 400Nm (up 20Nm), with official fuel consumption dropping from 6.0 to 5.6 litres per 100km.

The engine continues to send power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Pricing for the Audi A4 Allroad, introduced here in late 2012, remains at $70,500. A new $3000 Comfort Package is now offered, though, which comprises electrically operated tailgate, 18-inch "5-arm rotor design" alloy wheels, heated front seats and memory/heated/dimming side mirrors.

The Allroad is offered with just this one engine, reflecting its niche role within the A4 range.

The next-generation Audi A4 is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2015.
