Tesla Model S updated with new luxury interior option

Buyers of the Tesla Model S electric sedan who prefer to be driven places rather than sit behind the wheel will be pleased to learn of the new Executive Rear Seat option pack.

Designed to offer a more luxury-focused feel than the regular three-seat bench fitted as standard in the Tesla Model S, the new twin-seat option pack replaces the middle pew with a fixed armrest with storage and cupholders.

Reports suggest the seats have been sculpted to be softer and feature a lower base to increase headroom. The new seats also feature three-zone seat heating as standard, and occupants can also use the Tesla smartphone app to control the car's media system, climate control system and the panoramic roof.

Luxury doesn't come cheap, though. In order to opt for the $2400 Executive Rear Seat pack, buyers of the 60kWh model or the 85kWh version must also choose the Premium Interior Package (with LED interior lighting and extended Nappa leather trim through the cabin, costing $4300) as well as choosing leather seat trim ($1800) and an Alcantara headliner ($1800). Buyers of the high-spec P85D model get leather and Alcantara standard.
