Ssangyong Tivoli unveiled inside and out

The Indian-owned Korean car maker has revealed its new Ssangyong Tivoli small SUV on the night before Christmas.

Ssangyong revealed late last month that its new SUV, previously only referred to by its codename, X100, would be named after the Italian town of Tivoli. To accompany that announcement, Ssangyong revealed the look of the production car's interior and exterior via a series of artistic sketches.

Overnight, Ssangyong's UK arm issued the first photos of the company's small SUV via its Facebook page.

Expected to measure around 4.2 metres from tip to tail, the new Tivoli sits between the Nissan Juke and Holden Trax in length. The Tivoli is the first car to wear the company's new design language, dubbed "Nature born — 3 Motion", which was previewed by the XIV-Adventure and XIV-Air concepts at the 2014 Paris motor show.

Under the bonnet, buyers can choose between a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 1.6-litre turbo diesel motor.

The Tivoli is scheduled to go on sale in Korea in January 2015. When Ssangyong chairman Lee Yoo-il spoke to CarAdvice at this year's Paris motor show, he revealed that the car would hit Australian showrooms from around April 2015.

Reports indicate that parent company, Mahindra, will offer its own version of the Tivoli in the near future, with a debut expected around the middle of 2015.
