Ssangyong Tivoli name to be used on new X100 baby SUV

Indian-owned South Korean car maker Ssangyong has announced that its new baby SUV, codenamed X100, will be badged the Ssangyong Tivoli.

Set for a January launch in Korea, the new Tivoli is due to hit showrooms in other markets, including Australia, from the second quarter of 2015.

Previewed by the XIV-Air and XVI-Adventure concepts at this year's Paris motor show, the Tivoli is expected to measure just 4.2 metres from front to rear, meaning that the new car will slot in beneath the compact Korando.

According to Ssangyong, the car is named after the town of Tivoli near Rome in Italy, which is known for both its cultural heritage and the gardens at the Villa d'Este.

New renderings of the Tivoli released today show a vehicle that, apart from the removal of a few motor show details, is not too different from the earlier XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure concepts.

The Tivoli will be the first production car from Ssangyong to sport the company's new, more polished "Nature born — 3 Motion" styling theme. Ssangyong claims that the Tivoli will have the "best interior quality in its class", as well as the now requisite connectivity options.

Tivoli buyers will be able to choose between either a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 1.6-litre turbo diesel motor.
