Dig this: JCB GT sets land-speed record, with a twist

We've all heard about the AMG GT, but what about the JCB GT?

Setting a precedent for big yellow machinery the world over, the JCB backhoe has set a world record of 116.82km/h in Bathurst, NSW.

Remember that next time you are stuck behind one on a country road.

Originally built to perform wheelies and other stunts, the JCB GT is powered by a supercharged 7.4-litre  V8 Chevy engine and puts out more than 1000hp. To help performance, the chassis is of light-weight steel construction, the body is fibreglass and the custom bucket is made out of aluminium.

Driven by 'The Dig', JCB's own demonstration driver, the JCB GT will also make an appearance at the 2014 V8 Supercar finale in Sydney.
