2015 Holden Colorado and Colorado 7 :: pricing and specifications

Holden has announced a series of upgrades for its Colorado ute and Colorado 7 SUV models aimed at improving their urban drive comfort and increasing their overall appeal.

Chief among the changes is a new comfort suspension package that has been added to the LTZ variants of the Colorado. Crucially, the suspension enhancements don’t affect the Colorado's 3500kg towing capacity.

The upgraded suspension tune for the LTZ reflects the more lifestyle-focused trend of buyers considering high-specification dual-cab utilities - especially in urban areas. The comfort suspension package encompasses revised spring rates and dampers in addition to a stiffer front stabiliser. According to Holden, the upgrade "improves ride balance and isolation, resulting in a smoother, more comfortable ride, particularly on urban roads".

An acoustic package has also been added across the range (both Colorado and Colorado 7) to reduce vibration in the cabin and improve noise insulation. Wind noise has been reduced as well thanks to minor aerodynamic improvements. Both LTZ variants also get heated leather seats and soft-touch materials throughout the cabin, along with piano black detail trim and a soft centre console armrest.

The insulation package is aimed at both reducing noise intrusion into the cabin from outside, and quietening down the cabin from the inside at the same time. This was a particular issue for the previous model in our testing on any road that wasn’t racetrack smooth, with coarse surfaces in particular exacerbating the noise intrusion into the cabin.

LTZ variants will also feel more upmarket than the outgoing model thanks to the interior enhancements, which are aimed at stepping the driving experience up a notch from behind the wheel. There’s also a 7.0-inch colour touchscreen featuring MyLink, Pandora, Stitcher, TuneIn, BringGo and Siri Eyes Free integration.

Across the range, Colorado now features hill descent control and hill start assist, following intensive testing at the Billy Goat Bluff track in the Alpine National Park. The wind and acoustic improvements were made following testing at the Monash University Wind Tunnel.

All crew-cab and Colorado 7 models have earned the maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating. The Colorado LTZ pick-up gets a reverse-view camera as standard, while it’s an option for LS and LT models. Both Colorado 7 models get the rear view camera as standard equipment. There’s also a new exterior colour available: Satin Steel Grey.

Holden Director of Marketing Bill Mott said the most significant aspect from Holden’s point of view was the fact the company could introduce these upgrades and improvements while maintaining MY14 pricing. The existing capped-price servicing schedule will also remain unchanged.

“The Colorado range has a great reputation for off-road driving and we wanted to translate that to urban and highway driving too,” Mott said. “While customers enjoy the reassurance they get from driving a very capable 4WD, they should also enjoy driving it for everyday errands."

The Holden Colorado and Colorado 7 are both powered by the same 2.8-litre Duramax four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 147kW at 3600rpm and 440Nm between 1600-2800rpm (manual) or 500Nm between 2000-2200rpm (automatic). Both transmissions are six-speed units.

The prices listed below reflect the recommended starting price before on-road costs for vehicles with a manual transmission - except Colorado 7 which is available exclusively with the auto gearbox. An optional automatic transmission adds $2200 to the price of the rest of the range. The space-cab chassis 4x4 Colorado is available as manual only.
