Renault Duster Oroch crew cab ute concept to debut in Sao Paulo

The Renault Duster Oroch, a crew cab ute based on the Dacia Duster SUV, will debut at this year's Sao Paulo auto show.

Unlike the Duster ute that's being produced in limited numbers for Petrom, a Romanian oil and gas company, the Oroch features four doors and seating for five.

Renault doesn't specify what drivetrain the Oroch uses, but top-spec Dusters in Brazil feature all-wheel drive and a 2.0-litre engine that generates 106kW/205Nm when fuelled by ethanol.

The Oroch rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, and features a panoramic glass roof that's framed by roof racks that flow seamlessly into a rack that's been designed to hold kitesurfing boards.

It's unknown at this stage how much cargo the Oroch can carry and what the dimensions of its rear tray are.

Cameras, with a viewing angle of up to 140 degrees, are fitted to the Oroch's C-pillars. Images from these cameras can be viewed on a multimedia screen situated on the car's dashboard.

Rivals Chevrolet, Fiat and Volkswagen all offer small car-based utes in Brazil. If Renault does decide to turn the concept car into a production model, the Oroch would be the only high-riding crossover-based ute.

For the Brazilian market, the Dacia Logan sedan, Sandero hatch and Duster SUV are all sold with Renault badges. Indeed, Dacia models make up a majority of the Renault's passenger car range in South America's largest country.
