DUB Magazine has waved its wand over both the five-door Yaris hatchback and the Sienna people minivan. The key visual ingredients for both these cars are lowered suspension and significantly flared wheelarches housing thick tyres.
The wide-body Yaris DUB Edition (above) rides on 20-inch alloys, has a TRD braking package and a throughly reworked interior. The driver and front passenger are treated to race-style buckets complete with harness restraints. The audio system features three amps, six speakers and an iPad controller, most of which lives within a fibreglass enclosure in the boot.
With its flared arches and 22-inch wheels, the Sienna DUB Edition (above) would look totally at home in the Toyota's viral "swagger wagon" ad campaign.
The reworked Sienna does sacrifice a bit of cargo carrying capability in order to cram in its six amplifier, 12-speaker sound system, which also includes six headrest monitors.
By comparison the Sienna:Remix (above) looks positively demure and almost dull. It's a deliberate move, though, by builders West Coast Customs and satellite radio outfit SiriusXM, because after a few button presses, a 360-degree sight and sound column rises out of the roof.
With four 12-inch subwoofers, 16 speakers and two 40-inch screens, it's ready to terrorise or delight anyone standing nearby. Flick another switch and the tailgate slides away to reveal a fully equipped DJ booth in the boot.
Rounding out Toyota's display at SEMA will be three trucks — a full-size Tundra pickup (left), a mid-size Tacoma ute (middle) and a 4Runner SUV (right) — that have been built to support the company's entry into this year's Baja 1000 off-road endurance race.
Each vehicle has been fitted out with off-roading GPS gear, light bars on every conceivable surface, winches, side-steps, cooling bins and carbon fibre highlights for the interior.
