Fiat Doblo facelift debuts in Hanover
The Italian automaker has used the IAA commercial vehicle show in Hanover to debut a facelifted version of its Fiat Doblo small van.
Visually the biggest changes have been wrought up front, where the outgoing model's bulbous headlights and single frame grille have been ditched for more conventional headlamps and a full-width grille.
The interior has also been renovated, with the updated Doblo featuring a completely new dashboard, instrumentation, door panels, steering wheel and improved sound deadening.
A three-seat front bench is available in the new Doblo. The middle seat can be folded down to provide an armrest or to hold documents, while the outboard passenger's seat can also folded down to aid in the carrying of long items.
Top-spec Doblos are available with a 5-inch touchscreen for the entertainment and satellite navigation system.
Across Europe Fiat will offer the choice of six turbo-diesel motor configurations, ranging from a 56kW/200Nm 1.3-litre all the way through to a 101kW/320Nm 2.0-litre engine.
On the petrol front, there's a 71kW/127Nm 1.4-litre motor, as well as a turbocharged 89kW/206Nm variant that's dual fuel (petrol and methane) compatible.
As with the current van, the updated Doblo will be produced for all markets at Fiat's plant in Bursa, Turkey. The changes unveiled overnight bring the Doblo roughly into line with the Ram Promaster City that went on sale in the US recently.
Neither the pre-facelift Fiat Doblo, nor its Opel/Vauxhaul Combo cousin, is currently sold in Australia. It's unknown whether the facelift will change that situation.
