2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG S revealed: sedan and wagon versions uncovered

New official images of the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG have surfaced, with both station wagon and sedan versions of the high-output C63 AMG S.

The images have been released following a leak overnight that saw the brand publish images of the C63 AMG, C63 AMG S and C63 AMG Edition 1 on its German site ahead of their scheduled debuts at the 2014 Paris motor show.

Under the bonnet of the C63 AMG is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 churning out 350kW of power and 650Nm of torque, which is 10kW and 50Nm more than what the same engine produces in the new entry-level Mercedes-AMG GT. The new car also eclipses the output of the existing model's 336kW/600Nm 6.2-litre V8.

According to Mercedes-Benz, that’s good enough to propel the 1640-kilogram C63 from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds and onwards to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

The car rides on a sports suspension package that has three-stage adjustable dampers, while ventilated and drilled 360mm discs at the front and 330mm discs at the rear are responsible for bringing the whole thing to a halt.

Car spotters will be able to pick the C63 AMG out from its lesser brethren by its reworked grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, more aggressive bumpers, aero side skirts, rear diffuser and quad exhaust tips.

On the inside there’s a flat-bottomed steering wheel, new instrument cluster, illuminated sill plates, and seats that are trimmed in a mixture of leather and microfibre.

As has become the norm at AMG, there will also be a more powerful S model. The 1655kg C63 S AMG sedan boasts a more powerful 375kW/700Nm version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8; that’s the same amount of power, but 50Nm more torque than the Mercedes-AMG GT S.

The extra mumbo helps to shave 0.1sec from the 0-100km/h time, bringing it down to 4.1sec; top speed is still limited to 250km/h.

Aside from the engine, the S model also features 19-inch alloys, glossy black accents on the front bumper, an electronic locking rear differential, dynamic engine mounts, and uprated front and rear axles.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is set to arrive in Australian showrooms in 2015.
