Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG variants revealed early on company website

Photos and details about the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG, as well as the Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG and AMG Edition 1, have been revealed ahead of schedule on the company's German website.

All of the pages, except for the AMG Edition 1, which is pictured here, have now been taken down from Mercedes-Benz' German site. Prior to that, though, WorldCarFans and AutoBlog Serbia were able to glean the following details about the AMG fettled version of the new C-Class.

Under the bonnet of the C63 AMG is a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 churning out 350kW of power and 650Nm of torque, which is 10kW and 50Nm more than what the same engine produces in the new entry-level Mercedes-AMG GT. The new car also eclipses the output of the outgoing model's 336kW/600Nm 6.2-litre V8.

According to Mercedes, that's good enough to propel the 1640-kilogram C63 from 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds and onwards to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

The car rides on a sports suspension package that has three-stage adjustable dampers, while ventilated and drilled 360mm discs at the front and 330mm discs at the rear are responsible for bringing the whole thing to a halt.

Car spotters will be able to pick the C63 AMG out from its lesser brethren by its reworked grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, more aggressive bumpers, aero side skirts, rear diffuser and quad exhaust tips.

On the inside there's a flat-bottomed steering wheel, new instrument cluster, illuminated sill plates, and seats that are trimmed in a mixture of leather and microfibre.

As has become the norm at AMG, there will also be a more powerful S model. The 1655kg C63 S AMG boasts a more powerful 375kW/700Nm version of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8; that's the same amount of power, but 50Nm more torque than the Mercedes-AMG GT S.

The extra mumbo helps to shave 0.1sec from the 0-100km/h time, bringing it down to 4.1sec; top speed is still limited to 250km/h.

Aside from the engine, the S model also features 19-inch alloys, glossy black accents on the front bumper, an electronic locking rear differential, dynamic engine mounts, and uprated front and rear axles.

Oddly, the Mercedes-Benz Germany website still features info about and photos of the new C63 S AMG Edition 1.

It's unknown if the limited edition Edition 1 will be available in regular C63 AMG trim.

The Edition 1's main features seem to be largely cosmetic in nature, with the key visual changes being grey door stripes, a high gloss black lip spoiler, and red highlights for the grille, 19-inch alloy wheels and wing mirrors.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is set to arrive in Australian showrooms in 2015.
