Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X : Brand’s most capable model ever launches from $52,000

The Wrangler Rubicon X is available in limited numbers exclusively in four-door Unlimited specification with a five-speed automatic transmission. At $52,000, it is $3000 more expensive than the regular Rubicon on which it’s based.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X features wider Mopar rock rails for added protection from trail damage and extra standard features.

The X special edition employs the Rubicon’s part-time four-wheel-drive system with electronic-locking front and rear Dana 44 axles, which receive power through a Rock-Trac transfer case with a ‘4-Low’ ratio of 4:1. A 4.10 front and rear axle ratio and Tru-Lok locking differentials are also standard.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X wears 17-inch satin black polished alloy wheels with red Wrangler icon logos and Goodyear tyres at its corners.

A dual-intake ‘Power Dome’ bonnet aids cooling and aesthetics, while red ‘Rubicon’ decals on either side of the bonnet and a black Mopar fuel filler door add further visual distinction.

Standard inside the Rubicon X is black leather upholstery, heated front seats, a uniquely styled gauge cluster, silver trim highlights, UConnect multimedia system with 6.5-inch touchscreen and satellite navigation, and a digital information system with vehicle speed, oil and tyre pressure, and transmission and coolant temperature read-outs.

The Rubicon X is powered by the brand’s 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine, with produces 209kW of power and 347Nm of torque.

To officially welcome it to our shores, Fiat Chrysler Australia has entered two Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X special editions into the country’s most demanding off-road race, the Australasian Safari, which kicks off in Wanneroo, Western Australia, on September 19 and concludes in Kalbarri, WA, on September 27.
