Hyundai H350 van teased : Australia keen, but no RHD at this stage

Hyundai says the H350 has been “designed and developed especially for the European market”, with three body styles – cargo van, passenger bus and flatbed truck – intended to strengthen the company’s presence in the light-commercial vehicle sector. It will have a payload of up to 1.4 tonnes and a towing capacity up to 2.5 tonnes.

The Hyundai H350 - which CarAdvice's spies spotted testing in April - shares design cues with the South Korean company’s passenger car range, incorporating a prominent hexagonal grille and wraparound headlights with stylised LED daytime running lights.

The sketch of the interior reveals a three-seat front row, multi-function four-spoke steering wheel, basic audio and climate controls, and plenty of storage bins across the dashboard.

The H350 will be built in Turkey by long-term Hyundai commercial vehicle production partner Karsan Otomotiv Sanayil ve Ticaret A.S.

The light-commercial vehicle has only been confirmed for left-hand drive at this stage, and the official word from Hyundai head office in South Korea is that a decision about a right-hand-drive version of the H350 has not yet been made.

Hyundai Australia public relations general manager Bill Thomas told CarAdvice the local division is “definitely interested” in the H350 and would sell it here if it was made available to our market.

Thomas said Hyundai was only likely to build the H350 in right-hand drive if it determined there was sufficient demand for the model in the UK.

The Hyundai H350 will be unveiled in Hanover on September 24, and will also appear on the company’s stand at next month’s Paris motor show.
