Jeep has partnered with Harman Kardon to develop Active Noise Cancelling technology, which is claimed to reduce road noise and other ambient sounds to improve interior refinement and enhance sound clarity from the audio system without drowning out the SRT’s signature exhaust bark.
A new 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Red Vapor special edition is finished with a number of unique design elements, including 20-inch black chrome ‘Goliath’ alloy wheels, gloss black badges and grille inserts, black chrome and red interior accents, and a dark red engine cover.
Outputs from the Grand Cherokee SRT's 6.4-litre V8 are unchanged for 2015, continuing to produce 344kW at 6250rpm and 624Nm at 4100rpm, helping the flagship performance model from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds.
Beneath the hardcore SRT variant, the 2015 Grand Cherokee Summit variant – which was offered as a range-topping model at the, er, summit of the regular Grand Cherokee range – also benefits from Active Noise Cancelling, and additionally gains acoustic laminated glass for the windshield and second row.
New Argentina Tan leather, illuminated door sills and a new carpet cargo mat also feature in the updated Summit.
Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly quoted a power and torque increase for the SRT's engine. This is not the case and the story has been amended to reflect this.
