2015 Audi A7 Sportback 3.0 TDI Competition revealed

The Audi A7 Sportback has a new high-performance diesel flagship model.

The new Audi A7 Sportback 3.0 TDI Competition has been revealed as a means of celebrating 25 years of diesel power for the German brand. The new model will sit atop the diesel ranks of the recently revealed mid-life update A7 range.

Audi's new powered-up range-topping oil-burner features a 3.0-litre bi-turbo diesel V6 engine producing 240kW of power and 650Nm of torque between 1400-2800rpm. Those figures put it 5kW gruntier than the standard bi-turbo in the updated range, as the engine has seen some modifications to its charging system and camshafts. An extra 15kW of overboost can also be gained under hard acceleration.

The result is a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 5.1 seconds, while fuel use remains quite low at 6.1 litres per 100km. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic and the company's well-known quattro all-wheel drive system.

The car is offered with the S line sport package, which sees the suspension dropped by 20mm, 20-inch wheels with black painted sides and 265/35 rubber. The brake calipers are painted red, while the black mirror caps and tail-pipe surrounds add some more visual flair. The car can be had in four colours only - Daytona Grey, Misano Red, Nardo Grey and the brand's halo colour, Sepang Blue.

Inside, the A7 Sportback 3.0 TDI Competition carries over the blacked-out theme, with sports seats trimmed in Valcona leather, and black wood contrasts against aluminium trim elements. The company is also offering contrasting interior trim packages.

Audi Australia told CarAdvice that at this stage, the A7 Sportback 3.0 TDI Competition is "not planned for Australia".
