2015 Hyundai i30 :: Genesis-inspired facelift spied

CarAdvice’s spy photographers have snapped the facelifted Hyundai i30 undergoing testing in Germany.

The images offer up a first look at the mid-life update for the second-generation i30 – the first significant upgrade for the South Korean brand’s small car since its unveiling in September 2011.

Tweaks to the front and rear styling are visible beneath the camouflage of the silver and black five-door hatchback test cars.

The front end features a new grille with four strong horizontal chrome cross bars, reminiscent of those on the Genesis luxury sedan. The remodelled front bumper also features reshaped fog lights.

Changes at the rear are expected to be minimal. The silver test car appears identical to the pre-facelift i30, while the black prototype is more carefully protected, perhaps pointing to some small revisions.

Camouflage material also disguises parts of the interior, signalling changes to the dashboard layout and potentially the i30’s central display screen and infotainment systems.

Expect to see the updated Hyundai i30 in local showrooms early next year, roughly halfway through the standard seven-year lifecycle of the current-generation car.
