Mini’s terrifying failed world record jump attempt captured on video

Back in March we saw video of French rally driver Guerlain Chicherit crash a heavily modified Mini Countryman in attempting a world-record jump of almost 110 metres.

The jump - a collaborative promotional stunt for the car brand, Monster energy drink and action video camera company GoPro - and its disastrous outcome was caught on video by onlookers at the time, but now GoPro has released a longer film detailing the crash and giving viewers the chance to see how it felt for Chicherit when the nose of his beefed up SUV hit the landing ramp after flying through the air for more than 100m.

Check out the video above to see the action as it happened - including three seconds of slo-mo that captures the fear in Chicherit's eyes when he realised the jump had gone terribly wrong.

The good news is that Chicherit escaped unharmed.
