Snapped by CarAdvice’s spy photographers wearing gloss black alloy wheels and only mild camouflage in the form of headlight and tail-light stickers, the facelifted Porsche Cayenne looks set to continue the German car maker’s tradition of making subtle design tweaks to its model updates.

Comprising a new bonnet, grille, bumper and air intakes up front, the changes also include a redesigned tailgate and slimmer tail-light housings out back along with a refreshed rear bumper and exhaust outlets. The interior is also expected to receive some revisions.

Porsche’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine – churning out 250kW and 460Nm in the Macan S and 313kW and 520Nm in Panamera S guise – will join a new-look line-up that will also include a new plug-in hybrid variant.

Spied earlier this year, and tipped to wear Cayenne S E-Hybrid badging, the petrol-electric SUV will reportedly use a powertrain evolved from the 310kW/590Nm supercharged 3.0-litre V6–based unit found in the Panamera S E-Hybrid, where it claims a combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 3.1 litres per 100km.

The updated second-generation Porsche Cayenne range is tipped to be unveiled at September’s Paris motor show before sharing SUV showroom space with the newly launched Macan – the latter already expected to become the brand’s second best-selling model for 2014.
