Volkswagen Golf GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo digitally revealed

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo has been unveiled in digital form ahead of its launch into the world of video games and cyberspace in June.

Teased in sketches at the beginning of this week, the video and images reveal the racing concept inside and out, pushing the limits of the Golf GTI design DNA.

The Vision Gran Turismo Roadster combines the GTI’s signature red grille strip, piercing headlights and boomerang-shaped C-pillars and rear quarter panels with aggressive, racecar-style front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser, chopped windscreen and windows, vertical intakes behind the doors, and a massive rear wing.

The Volkswagen Golf GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo is powered by a 375kW/665Nm 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, and sends power to the ground via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and the brand’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

Helping to put that power to the ground is a set of low-profile performance tyres that wrap around 20-inch alloy wheels, while 15-inch front and 14-inch rear vented brake discs bring it to a stop.

A full-scale model of the Golf GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo will be revealed at the 2014 Wörthersee Festival before the digital version debuts into Gran Turismo 6 next month.
