Mitsubishi Lancer sedan line-up altered for MY14.5 update

The Mitsubishi small sedan range now kicks off with the Lancer ES Sport model (below) priced from $20,390 - $400 more than the ES it replaces, but there are plenty of additions including a new Ralliart-style front grille, side skirts, a rear spoiler, chrome muffler tip, 16-inch alloy wheels and climate control air-conditioning.

The mid-range Lancer LX (above) drops from $23,990 to $22,990, though it also sees the adoption of a Ralliart-style front grille and front fog lights.

The ES Sport and LX models come equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is available with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard, or a CVT automatic which adds $2250.

The new sedan strategy comes just weeks after CarAdvice exclusively revealed that Mitsubishi's Lancer Sportback hatch range had been trimmed to just one model, the keenly priced 2.4-litre GSR which starts at $22,990. The existing 2.4-litre VRX sedan remains priced at $29,990, while the Ralliart sedan stays at $39,990.

Mitsubishi confirmed the Lancer Evolution X sedan remains on sale, priced at $59,990, while the Evolution MR remains at $65,990. Reports claim that production of those models will cease by year's end.
