Citroen DS production SUV teased

The first Citroen DS SUV has been teased ahead of its impending debut at the 2014 Beijing auto show.

Citroen has already confirmed that it would build a DS SUV based on the Wild Rubis concept in conjunction with Changan Automobile Group in Shengzen, however this is the first hint they've given as to how the production version will look.

A release from Citroen simply stated the following: "Meet us at the Beijing motor show to discover a new DS that marries power and refinement".

China Car News reports the toned down production version of the DS Wild Rubis concept (pictured below) will be known as the Citroen DS X7, and that the car will be built upon the same platform as the DS5 and DS 5LS.

It will reportedly be offered with three different engines: a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 149kW of power and 275Nm of torque; another 1.6-litre turbo four with 122kW/240Nm; and an entry-level 1.8-litre four-cylinder with 104kW/170Nm.

The site claims the DS X7 will be priced between 160,000 and 200,000 yuan ($27,700 and $35,600). However, as with the DS 5LS sedan, the DS X7 SUV is not expected to be sold outside China.

Citroen will also show a new performance sedan at the Beijing auto show, the DS 5LS  R.

PSA Peugeot-Citroen has announced its intentions for the DS line to become a luxury brand in its own right, aiming for DS to take on the likes of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
