Kids CarAdvice: Roary the Racing Car

Yes, yes, I know. Kids CarAdvice? Well after my young 'un took a shining to this children's show, it caught my eye too.

See, if you've got kids, and you're a petrol head, then this is the TV program for you. The level of detail is so amazing, and the blend of stop-motion animation and CG sequences so seamless, this is right up there in my books.

The characters are likeable enough, and even Sir Stirling Moss features - as a narrator. There's even an Enzo Ferrari caricature, in the form of Mr Carburettor, who runs the race track. The track is a blend of Silverstone and Brands Hatch, being called Silver Hatch.

Big Chris is the mechanic who is karaoke mad. Racetrack administrator Marsha solves all the problems, and there's cars for all types, too. Drifter (a Japanese drift car, of course), TinTop (A Nascar style American racer), Maxi (Formula 1), CC (a Fiat 500 style small car) and of course Roary (a Formula Ford/3000 type learner).

There's always a lesson for Roary, and the show isn't shy in promoting the odd burnout either.

Anyway, check it out on ABC at 3.45pm on weekdays. Oh, and let your kids watch it, too.
