Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge powered by Nissan GT-R engine

The Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge concept is confirmed to be powered by a slightly different version of the Nissan GT-R engine.

Infiniti announced at the Geneva motor show that the Q50 Eau Rouge performance car is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine linked to a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

If that sounds a bit familiar (apart from the transmission), it’s because its the same as the Nissan GT-R’s 3.8-litre engine.

In its Nissan supercar form, the 3.8-litre engine delivers 404kW of power and 628Nm of torque. In the Infiniti Q50 it manages 418kW and 600Nm.

Power is sent to the car’s full-time, all-wheel drive system with 50/50 front-to-rear torque split, the exact same system as in the Nissan GT-R.

It’ll dash from 0-100km/h in around four seconds and top out at in under four seconds, and on to a top speed of around 290km/h.

This model is yet to be confirmed for production, but Infiniti appears confident that this underlines the direction the company is heading.
