Lexus NX confirmed for 2014 Beijing motor show debut

The long-awaited Lexus NX compact SUV will make its production debut at the 2014 Beijing auto show, the Japanese luxury car brand has confirmed.

The controversially styled sub-RX high-riding crossover will be revealed in full in April - although an image in a presentation has, if true, already given a lot away in terms of how the new NX will look (see below).

Lexus Europe vice president Alain Uyttenhoven made the announcement at the 2014 Geneva motor show.

"Today I can confirm that we will reveal this unique crossover in less than 50 days. The world premiere will take place on the 20th of April at the Beijing auto show," he said.

"I can also tell you that the car will be called Lexus NX - what I can't tell you is how excited I am about this car. The new NX will bring a significant boost to Lexus' presence in Europe. It's the right car in the right segment, and with a breathtaking design," he said.

The NX will debut a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, and will likely also be offered with hybrid power.

Expect the new Lexus NX to be on sale in Australia in late 2014 or early 2015.
