Jaguar F-Type Coupe priced from $119,900

Jaguar Australia’s pricing structure runs counter to that of rival Porsche, which charges a slight premium for its Cayman coupe over the related Boxster convertible.

The pricing means that while the entry-level F-Type roadster costs $32,155 more than the Porsche Boxster automatic, the base F-Type coupe is only $7810 more than the equivalent Cayman auto.

It also makes the supercharged 250kW/450Nm 3.0-litre V6 Jaguar F-Type $24,990 cheaper than the Cayman S auto, which is outgunned by the Jaguar with outputs of 239kW and 370Nm from its 3.4-litre six-cylinder.

Like the entry model, the $152,300 Jaguar F-Type S coupe also undercuts its equivalent roadster by $18,745 while delivering the same 280kW/460Nm from its uprated supercharged 3.0-litre V6.

At $219,600, the flagship Jaguar F-Type R coupe commands a $17,655 premium over the range-topping F-Type V8 S roadster, though it produces an extra 40kW/55Nm from its supercharged 5.0-litre V8 and also benefits from a bespoke suspension set-up and new dynamic technologies, including a second-generation electronic active differential and torque vectoring.

The F-Type R coupe sits just $7150 above the base 257kW/390Nm 3.4-litre six-cylinder Porsche 911 Carrera auto.

Standard features of the entry-level F-Type coupe include 18-inch alloy wheels, silver brake calipers and sports seats with leather and suede upholstery.

The F-Type S coupe gains 19-inch alloys, uprated brakes with red calipers, sports suspension with adaptive dynamics, active sports exhaust, limited-slip differential, full leather upholstery, and unique cabin trim materials.

The F-Type R coupe upgrades to 20-inch alloy wheels, Jaguar’s ‘super performance’ braking system, switchable active sports exhaust with quad outlets, performance seats, and ‘R’-specific trim elements.

The V6 coupes are 20kg lighter than their roadster counterparts (1577-1594kg), while the V8 coupe (1650kg) saves 15kg over its equivalent soft-top. Boot capacity increases from the roadster's disappointing 196 litres to a more useable 407L as the tailgate replaces the roadster’s folding fabric roof.

The F-Type coupe will join the local line-up roughly nine months after it made its debut at November’s Los Angeles auto show.
