The Skoda VisionC concept could point the way to a new coupe-style sedan from the once dowdy Czech arm of Volkswagen.

Described as "the next stage of development in Skoda's design language", the sketched, sleek "five-door coupe" model could point the way to a more attractive version of the Octavia mid-size sedan in much the same way as the Volkswagen CC sits on the sexy side of the Passat range.

Skoda will show the new concept model at the Geneva motor show in March, stating the presentation of the "dynamic model and design development of the last few years moves into the next stage".

Appearing to take several cues from Audi's A5 Sportback, Skoda says the "design language of the dynamic and elegant five-door coupe is taking the leading role in the next evolutionary steps", claiming the brand's styling is "becoming more expressive, dynamic and emotional".

The brand says it is "renewing and broadening the entire range of models", which could be read as suggesting that a production version won't be too far away. Indeed, Autocar reported late in 2013 that Skoda chief Winfried Vahland had confirmed a CC version of the Octavia was already in development.
