Chevrolet Adra concept : sub-compact SUV teased

A teaser image of the pint-sized Chevrolet Adra concept has been released, previewing the brand's vision for a new baby SUV.

Developed at General Motors' Technical Centre in India and described as the "brainchild of Indian designers", the Adra concept has been created with the likes of the Ford EcoSport in its sights.

GM says the concept adopts Chevrolet’s global design language, and combines the virtues of “high ground clearance … all-round visibility, high seating stance and generous interior space”.

Short overhangs, a flat roofline and upward-sweeping sill and shoulder lines give the Adra concept boxy proportions reminiscent of the Kia Soul, while traditional SUV cues of hard-wearing plastic wheel arches and roof racks suggest capability beyond that of a standard city car.

A production version of the Adra would likely be targeted primarily at developing markets, with GM already offering the similarly sized Chevrolet/Holden Trax, Opel Mokka and Buick Encore models in established markets, though the car maker hasn't announced its plans for the baby SUV at this stage.

The Chevrolet Adra concept will debut at this week’s New Delhi auto expo in India.
