Hyundai Veloster : mysterious new variant coming

While little in the way of detail has been revealed, the company says the "newest addition to the Veloster lineup" will be presented by Brandon Ramirez, senior group manager of product planning for Hyundai Motor America, at the 2014 Chicago motor show, which kicks off on February 8.

Whether the car will be another performance oriented variant - such as the Veloster Turbo R Spec shown at the Los Angeles auto show in November 2013 - or a more manic Veloster Turbo model with a new 2.0-litre turbo engine (as is seen in other models such as the Santa Fe in certain markets) remains to be seen.

Another possibility is a production version of the canvas-topped Veloster C3 Convertible model, as was previewed in concept form at the 2012 Los Angeles auto show.
