Quant e-Sportlimousine: future technology-powered concept teased ahead of Geneva

Set to showcase never-before-seen energy technology, the futuristic Quant e-Sportlimousine has been teased ahead of its 2014 Geneva motor show unveiling in March.

Touted as the first car to be equipped with “an entirely new energy storage system” dubbed nanoFlowcell drive, the Quant e-Sportlimousine is a four-seater sports car measuring over 5.25 metres long - the same as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class - that is said to combine innovative technology and outstanding design.

Referred to as a “very special research vehicle” by Liechtenstein-based research and development company nanoFlowcell AG, the eSportlimousine prototype is aimed at generating “new and innovative ideas for ongoing research into battery development, specifically in the field of flow-cell technology”.

With a wide, low stance and a double bubble rear canopy, the Quant e-Sportlimousine features slender headlights, an aggressive grille and bumper layout with red highlights and front air intakes, and a sharply styled rear diffuser with a Formula One-style central fog light.

Founded in late 2013 and headed by development chief Nunzio La Vecchia, nanoFlowcell AG says its focus is on innovative storage technology and cell charging regeneration.

Though details are scarce, La Vecchia was previously involved in the development of a 2009 Geneva motor show concept car called - you guessed it - the Quant (pictured below).

Built in partnership with Swedish hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg, the previous car was a four-seat solar-electric concept that featured photovoltaic panels incorporated into its roof and bonnet and a fast charging system called Flow Accumulator Energy Storage (FAES) that claimed a full charge in 15-20 minutes and a range of over 480km.

The 2014 Geneva motor show begins on March 4.
