Porsche 911 facelift : Turbo, Coupe, Cabriolet spied; new turbo engine rumoured
The facelifted Porsche 911 range has been spied as rumours abound that the German manufacturer could be set to turbocharge the entire line-up.
Spotted by CarAdvice's spy photographers having far too much fun in snowy conditions while undergoing winter testing, the facelifted Porsche 911 convertible, coupe and Turbo all feature revised front and rear bumpers in progressively more aggressive styles.
New air intakes join daytime running lights at the front – similar to those seen on the recently spied Porsche Cayman and Boxster GTS twins – while new tail-lights and a ventilated rear bumper (with two slats on coupe and cabriolet, three on Turbo) can be seen out back.
The latter has spurred on rumours that the updated 911 will bring with it a smaller-capacity turbocharged six-cylinder engine for the coupe and convertible variants, which currently employ a 257kW/390Nm non-turbo 3.4-litre.
Said to target improved engine efficiency and emissions, any new engine would have to better the existing unit's claimed benchmark of 9.0 litres per 100km and 212 grams of CO2 per kilometre.
The current 991-generation Porsche 911 first debuted at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show, with the 383kW/660Nm 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged 911 Turbo making its delayed premiere in May last year.
