Peugeot teases sports car concept

Peugeot will unveil a sports car concept detailing the latest evolution of its new design direction at April's Beijing motor show.

The single teaser image of the sports coupe beneath a white curtain reveals its basic design elements, highlighting its long wheelbase and short overhangs, heavily raked front and rear windscreens, shallow greenhouse and contoured side panels.

Thin horizontal headlights sit at the front, while angular tail-lights sit high at the rear between a lip spoiler and a broad diffuser.

The four-seat sports car measures 4.73 metres long and 1.31 metres wide, giving it similar dimensions to a BMW 4 Series coupe.

The French manufacturer says the new concept is from the same family as its 2012 Paris motor show star, the Peugeot Onyx concept – a mid/rear-engined V8 diesel hybrid sports car producing 507kW of power and weighing just 1100kg.

Peugeot says elements of the Beijing show car’s styling and materials will set the direction for its future production vehicles.

More details will be revealed ahead of the Chinese show, which opens on April 20.
