Great Wall V200 recall : 9000 diesel utes affected
More than 9000 diesel-powered Great Wall V200 utilities have been recalled due to a fault that could cause the wiring harness to melt.
Ateco Automotive, the Australian distributor for the Chinese brand, is recalling 9134 Great Wall V200 utes built between June 2011 and April 2013 powered by the 105kW/310Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
According to the official recall notice on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) product safety recalls website, when driven, the wiring harness may come in contact with the bottom of the radiator and wear through its outer protector sleeve causing an earthing point and preventing the wiring system from functioning correctly.
The fault may result in the alternator dash light coming on, a flat battery, or in extreme cases "the wiring harness may melt internally".
Owners of the affected vehicles are being notified by mail with Great Wall Motors advising them to contact their nearest authorised dealer to organise an inspection.
First launched in 2011, the Great Wall V200 currently starts at $22,990 driveway.
