Bentley Continental GT V8 S (late 2014)
The top end of town will welcome the Bentley Continental GT V8 S in late 2014. Unveiled at 2013’s Frankfurt motor show and due to go on sale in Europe early next year, the S will be available as a 2+2 coupe or convertible, both powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, upgraded to produce 389kW/680Nm. Despite tipping the scales at close to 2.3 tonnes, Bentley claims the Sport will sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.3sec and charge on to 309km/h. The suspension has been lowered and retuned for more responsive handling, and the steering has been recalibrated for improved feel. Aero tweaks include a front splitter, side sills, and rear diffuser, while the 20-inch alloys are an S-only design. But sportiness doesn’t compromise luxury, with the handcrafted interior featuring soft-touch leathers, wood veneers, polished metal accents and deep pile carpeting. Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but don’t expect much change from $400K.
