Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake: compact wagon spied again

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake has been spied for the second time in little over a week as the German car maker continues development of what will become its most compact wagon.

Spotted for the first time last week while testing in Germany, the latest Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake images snapped by CarAdvice's spy photographers show the same car, this time winter testing in Northern Sweden.

Based on the MFA platform that underpins the CLA ‘four-door coupe’, A-Class hatch, B-Class MPV and GLA compact SUV, the sleekly styled CLA Shooting Brake clearly takes inspiration from the larger CLS Shooting Brake.

Fitted with a diamond-pattern grille, sports bumpers and skirts, a large rear diffuser and cross-drilled front brake discs, the test model spied on the snowy Swedish roads is believed to be a CLA250 Sport variant.

Still yet to be confirmed by the German car maker, the CLA Shooting Brake range is anticipated to launch in 2015 with a line-up mirroring its sedan sibling – which in Australia comprises the 115kW/250Nm 1.6-litre petrol CLA200 and range-topping 265kW/450Nm 2.0-litre CLA45 AMG, and 100kW/300Nm 1.8-litre diesel CLA200 CDI from February and 155kW/350Nm 2.0-litre CLA250 Sport from April.
