Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate uncovered

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate has been spied free of camouflage, giving an undisguised look at the rear of the next-generation premium mid-sized wagon.

The images – captured by CarAdvice's spy photographers in Germany – reveal smaller, rounder LED tail-lights spanning the tailgate and rear three-quarter panels of the fourth-generation C-Class, evolving the design language debuted on the compact A-Class hatch and GLA-Class crossover.

A thin chrome beam connects the rear lamps across the tailgate, and is paralleled low in the rear bumper where twin exhaust outlets are integrated into a stylised chrome strip.

The new-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be larger than the outgoing model, promising increased cabin space and more cargo capacity in its boot, which currently measures 485 litres.

The images come just weeks after the all-new C-Class sedan was uncovered in a revealing set of spy photographs, showing every angle of the of its exterior, and a little over a month after Mercedes-Benz released official images of the car’s redesigned interior and details of its forthcoming technology features.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan will make its official public debut at next month’s Detroit motor show, with the wagon expected to step out a few months later.

The new C-Class sedan will reach Australian showrooms in the second half of 2014, replacing the third-generation luxury mid-sized model that landed here in mid 2007. The wagon will launch internationally towards the end of 2014, though is not expected in Australia until 2015.
