The actor, who was 40-years-old, was reportedly in the area for a charity event that involved a car show and toy drive which was set up through his charity, Reach Out Worldwide.

Walker was reportedly a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT when the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a post or a tree. Both passengers were killed when the car burst into flames.

Roger Rodas, the CEO of Walker’s company Always Evolving, was the driver and the car’s owner.

Antonio Holmes, who identified himself as a friend of Walker’s, described the scene to local newspaper, the Santa Clarita Valley Signal:

“Him and his buddy, his brother-in-arms… just decided to joyride, take a spin. Something we all do. We’re all car enthusiasts,” Holmes said.

“We all heard the accident from our location. Someone called it in and said it was a vehicle fire. We all ran around and jumped in cars and grabbed fire extinguishers and immediately went to the vehicle. It was engulfed in flames. There was nothing. They were trapped.”

Walker was reprising his role as ex-FBI agent Brian O’Connor in Fast & Furious 7 for director James Ward. The movie had already started filming in Atlanta and was set to move to Abu Dhabi in January, but was on a break for Thanksgiving holiday.

The latest instalment in the successful action franchise was due to hit cinemas July 11.
