The joint announcement by Melbourne Lord Mayor Robert Doyle and Victoria Police CBD Superintendent Stephen Leane not only hopes to improve the security of vehicles, but that of motorists' safety.

Statistically Melbourne's CBD car parks see about 3000 cars broken into or stolen each year, a trend the safety-rating system hopes to see decrease.

Further details of the system are yet to be released, but as always, we'll be sure to keep you posted.
