Mitsubishi Outlander updated for 2014

The Mitsubishi Outlander has been updated for the 2014 model year with revised pricing and new equipment specifications.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2014 Update - 2

Available in three specifications levels: ES; LS; and Aspire, the Mitsubishi Outlander remains a front- or four-wheel-drive proposition with five- and seven-seat variants. All models now  come standard with 18-inch alloy wheels and black roof rails.

Starting with the entry-level five-seat Outlander ES 2WD, prices are down $1350 to $27,640.

Teaming the existing 110kW/190Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder with a five-speed manual transmission sees average fuel consumption rise 0.1L/100km to 7.1L/100km. When matched with the continuously variable transmission (CVT) – an additional $2250 – the figure drops to 6.9L/100km (up from 6.6L/100km).

Mitsubishi Outlander 2014 Update LS - 1

The $32,890 ES 4WD – down by $1100 – adds the 2.4-litre four-cylinder and CVT and continues to consume 7.5L/100km.

All ES models now gain reversing sensors, a reversing camera and a 6.1-inch touchscreen display to compliment the existing features of climate control air conditioning, cruise control and a six-speaker stereo with Bluetooth connectivity and audio streaming and voice control.

At $33,490 – down $1500 – the 2.0-litre-powered LS 2WD is available exclusively as a five-seater with CVT.

Two seven-seat 4WD LS models round out the mid-spec range: one powered by the 2.4-litre petrol unit and one by the 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine introduced last year. Partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission, the oiler's fuel consumption remains unchanged at 5.8L/100km.

Despite now receiving Mitsubishi's multi communication system (MMCS) with seven-inch touchscreen and satellite navigation as standard, as well as rain sensing wipers and dusk sensing headlights, the revised prices see the petrol version drop $2500 to $36,490 and the diesel $1500 to $39,490.

Eliminating the previous Aspire model's optional premium pack has resulted in the top-spec 2014 model being bolstered by additional standard equipment valued at approximately $5750.

This includes HID headlights with washers, a power tailgate, MMCS with satellite navigation, forward collision mitigation and adaptive cruise control. An electric sunroof has also been added.

The increase in spec has seen prices of the Aspire 4WD 2.4-litre petrol ($43,790) and Aspire 4WD 2.2-litre diesel ($46,790) rise by $300 and $1300 respectively.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander is on sale now, and comes with Mitsubishi’s five-year/130,000km new vehicle warranty, five years roadside assist and capped-price servicing for four years or 60,000km.
